Impact women

Outdoor tryouts for the St. Albert Impact women’s teams in the Edmonton District Soccer Association kick off this weekend at Larry Olexiuk Field.

The sessions run 2:30 to 4 p.m. today and 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Impact will field three premier teams again after a successful 2018 campaign.

Impact 1 (Spaidal) lost only four matches and three were against Northwest United, including a pair at the Alberta Soccer Association premier championship as the silver medallist.

Impact 1 finished 15-1-2 (66 GF/18 GA) for 46 points as the second-place team in league play behind Northwest’s 15 wins and three ties.

Impact 2 (Bourbonnais/Brown) placed fifth at 7-5-6, 30 GF/23 GA) for 26 points and Impact 3 (Murphy) was eighth at 4-2-12, 23 GF/59 GA) for 14 points in the 10-team division.

Impact 4 (Murphy), the Tier 1 provincial champion, was also the division 1A runner-up at 10-2-2 (63 GF/22 GA) for 32 points.

Rams lacrosse

A number of St. Albert Rams Lacrosse teams are gearing up for their season openers in the Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council.

The midget female Rams run the floor Sunday against Lacoka at 4 p.m. at Coronation Arena and Wednesday’s home opener against the Westlock Rock starts 6:30 p.m. at Kinex Arena.

The midget B male Rams are the visitors Monday against the Beaumont Raiders at 7 p.m. and Thursday against the Westlock Rock at 7:45 p.m.

The bantam A north zone male Rams face off against the Parkland Posse Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Glenn Hall Centennial Arena.

The peewee A zone north male Rams are in action Monday against the Edmonton Blues at 7:15 p.m. at Glenn Hall rink and Wednesday against the host Leduc Crush at 7:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Jeremy Richardson Memorial Baggataway, hosted by St. Albert Rams Lacrosse, is scheduled for June 7 to 9.

The 23rd annual tournament honours the memory of Jeremy Richardson, the first Ram to be drafted into the National Lacrosse league in 2003 as the third-round pick (27th overall) of the Calgary Roughnecks.

Umpire clinics

The St. Albert Minor Baseball Association is hosting umpire clinics April 20 for level 1 and April 21 for level 2.

The sessions run 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Ronald Harvey School.
