Lions sweep Sabres in playoffs

The season is over for the St. Albert Sabres after back-to-back losses against the SSAC Southgate Lions. The Sabres suffered identical 3-2 defeats Tuesday and Thursday in the best-of-three opening round in the bantam AAA playoffs.

The St. Albert Raiders lost the battle for first place to the Lloydminster Bobcats because of a tiebreaker. Last weekend the Raiders defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Calgary Northstars to finish 23-6-6 in the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League.
