Ball, Mary Theresa

1948 - 2020

The family of Mary Theresa (Terrie) Ball is saddened to announce her passing on Friday September 4, 2020.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 50 years, John; daughters: Michelle (Kelly) Reid, and Allison (Shawn) Ball; grandchildren: Jaxon, Jada, and Siobhan; sisters: Diane, Levina, and Jeanette. She was predeceased by her parents, Michel and Cecile Frigault, her brothers Stanley and Ivan, and sister Gertrude.

Terrie grew up in Saint John, NB and attended St. Vincent's High School. Upon her graduation, she volunteered as an assistant teacher with the Auxiliary Missionaries of the Assumption, taking up a post in Guatemala, where she worked with young children and became proficient in Spanish. Upon her return, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from the University of New Brunswick. She met John in 1967, and they were married in August 1970.

The Ball family moved to Alberta in 1980. Terrie taught at Alberta Vocational Centre (now Norquest College) as a qualified ESL teacher. In 1985, she was part of a contingent of teachers that participated in an exchange program sponsored by the Alberta Government to Harbin, China. While there, she was honoured to address a gathering of 2,500 teachers celebrating National Teachers Day. In later years, she served as office manager to the family’s engineering business and spent much of her time serving the Baha'i Faith and local community.

Terrie left this world peacefully, buoyed by the prayers and good wishes of friends and family from across the country and around the world. Her husband John and daughters Michelle and Allison were with her as her soul ascended to the spiritual world.

A private funeral service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020. To observe the service remotely, please contact the family for the online link or visit www.connelly-mckinley.com
