Our beloved mom and grandma passed away peacefully Saturday December 11th. Ethel was born May 9, 1935 on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, where a part of her heart always remained.
Mom leaves to mourn her 4 children Susan, Wally, Steve (Stacey) and Allan (Nicole) along with 8 grandchildren, Melanie (Stefan), Faith (Les), Justin, Katie, Makayla, Ethan, Zach (Kayla) and Josh (Cassy), and 4 great grandchildren, Jasmine, Khloe, Lily Rose and 2021 addition Asher, who were all the lights of her life. Ethel was predeceased by her son Raymond and her husband Fred.
Mom lived her life with simple Christian values that guided her through every day, we could not have asked for a better role model for a parent. Affectionately known to her family as The Big E, Ethel’s world revolved around her family, church and helping others in any way she could. She spent the last number of years of her working career doing what she loved most, looking after children in her day home, there was no baby mom did not want to hold and rock. Some of those children continued to have friendships with Ethel into adulthood. A special mention goes out to Jenn, who was there with mom right to the end.
The family wishes to send a very special thank you to the staff of Unit 5 of the Youville Home where mom spent her last years. Words cannot express how grateful we all are for the kind and compassionate care you provided our mother.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held for Ethel in the spring.
