1934 - 2021

It is with profound sadness that the family announce the passing of a loving and much adored father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Maurice Léo Joseph Belley has gone to be reunited with Eloise, his best friend, soul mate, business partner and wife of over 65 years to celebrate Christmas together, a season they both loved to commemorate. There is much laughter and joy in heaven today.

Dad is survived by his children Marcel (Reena), Richard, Denise (Adrian) and Leo;  his siblings: Paul (Jocelyn) Belley, Pauline (Ray) Bolduc and Allice (Charles) Laderoute; his nine grandchildren: Levi, Annie (Kyle), Joshua (Maddy), Rebekah (Patrick), Zachary (Aryn), Catherine, Simone, Renee and Jackson and three great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Scarlett and Reyna.

Dad was a self-made man who was admired by many for his incredible work ethic, business savvy, boundless courage and analytical and curious nature. His friendly, welcoming and generous spirit extended to everyone, regardless if you were just meeting him for the first time or if you were a long-time friend. Above all else, Dad’s pride and love for his family was unquestionably his greatest joy. Nothing brought him more laughter and happiness than being surrounded by his loved ones at a family gathering.

Thank you to the professional and caring staff at the Sturgeon Community Hospital, the Retirement Residence and the many doctors and nurses who cared for Dad over the past several years. Special thanks to Dr. Bruce Ritchie and his staff at the University Hospital; you gave us an extra 20 years with Dad.

A private service will take place in January 2022. A live stream will be available. Please contact Denise at [email protected] for the link. A reception is planned for the summer.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Hemophilia Society or to the charity of your choice.
