It is with great sadness that the family of Don Breakey announce his passing on October 8, 2022 at the age of 93.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 69 years Ruby; daughter Pat (Randy Davidson); sons, Brian (Caroline) and Graham Breakey (Teesa); granddaughter Melissa Proulx (Jessie); and grandsons Brent (Meighan) of Edmonton, Logan and Gage Breakey of Phoenix, Arizona. He will be remembered by his sister Evelyn Simms (George); brother-in-law Doug Graham (Myrna), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Pearl and William Breakey; two brothers Gordon and Glen and his sister Dorothy Armstrong.
Dad grew up on a farm near Vista, Manitoba during the depression and was a hard worker all of his life. He married Ruby Graham in 1953 and they farmed near Foxwarren, Manitoba.
In 1960, the family moved to Calgary, where dad worked for Atco Industries in the early years, transporting trailers to remote areas in North America before GPS and Google maps. In 1970 he relocated to St. Albert where he worked for GIC Industries in Morinville, and Creative Door in Edmonton.
Dad enjoyed his acreage near Sturgeon Valley Golf course, gardening, curling, hockey and his beloved Boston Terrier dogs. He always had a project on the go!
The family sincerely thanks Dr. Chow and Dr. LaBuick and staff at the Grandin Clinic who took care of dad for so much of his life and the staff at Shepherd's Care Kensington. We are so grateful to Chaplain Fred, Vanessa from Recreation therapy, Dr. Khan, and the nursing staff who provided such compassionate care to our dad for the past two years.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday October 24, 2022 at St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert.
