April 24, 1934 - April 9th, 2020

It is with a profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Carmela Caputo of Edmonton, AB, announces her passing on April 9, 2020 at the age of 85 years. Left to mourn her loss are her son, John (Caroline) and their children Joseph and Loriana; son, Frank (Lori) and their daughter, Chantelle (Michael) and their daughter Berkley; sister, Rosaria of Kamloops; brother Alfredo of Kamloops; and her dedicated caregivers, Janet Esma and Judy Elicor. She also leaves to mourn numerous extended family members and nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, Luxembourg and Argentina. She was predeceased by her parents, Pietro and Anna Caputo; daughter, Rosina (Rosa); her husband, Giuseppe; brother, Guerino; sisters, Erminia, Almerinda, and Maria; step-siblings, Concetta, Antonio, Luigi and Gennia.

Carmela, affectionately known as ‘nanna’ and ‘nana”, will be greatly missed by so many family members and friends and most deeply by her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, who she was so lovingly devoted to. She will forever be remembered for her kindness and generosity. Our lives will not be the same without her.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our family and friends who were there for our mother when she needed them the most. For their love and support we will be forever grateful. We would also like to thank her family doctor Dr. Talbot-Jones and his staff, the doctors and staff of the Emergency department at the Sturgeon Community Hospital for their compassionate care, in particular Dr. Sainsbury and Dr. McDonald.

Due to the current situation and restrictions to gatherings at this time, a private immediate-family only viewing and service will be held. Her final resting place will be at Holy Cross Mausoleum.

In lieu of other tributes, donations in Carmela’s memory may be made to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation if so desired.
