Gary Hugh Johnson

1946 – 2019

On November 2, 2019, Gary Johnson, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and pillar of our family passed away, with family by his side, at the age of 73. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cheryl Dimos, his children Michelle (Doug) MacKay, Ann-Marit Thomson, and Kristoffer (Karyn) Johnson, his step-children Andrew (Jessica) Trelford and Lauren Trelford, grandchildren Cameron, Bennett, and Griffin MacKay, Fraser Thomson, Anna and Ethan Johnson, and his step-grandchildren Lucas, Riley, and Aubrey Trelford, his brother Dale (Judy) Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews and so many other dear family members and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn Johnson and his parents Clifford and Edythe Johnson.

We have fond & precious memories of his devotion and love for family. His easy-going nature and positive attitude had a profound influence on many throughout his life. In his younger years, Gary enjoyed playing guitar, marathon running, race car driving and camping. He loved traveling, watching his Oilers and spending time with family and friends. We are all very grateful to have had him in our lives and he leaves behind a treasured legacy that will be cherished in our hearts.

The family wishes to thank all the medical professionals at Vancouver General Hospital that treated Gary with immense care and compassion.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Holy Family Catholic Parish, 75 Poirier Avenue, St. Albert, on Friday, November 22, 2019, at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gary’s name can be made directly to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
