1951 - 2020
On July 19, 2020, Gary Ernest Jenkins passed peacefully from this world with his family at his side.
Gary was a husband to Judy Jenkins, a father to Kim Leblanc (Neil) and Brent Jenkins (Lauren), a grandfather to Emma, James, Callie and Lucie, a brother to Keith Jenkins (Audrey), and a son to Charles and Dorthea Jenkins.
Gary was born on April 11, 1951 in Ottawa, Ontario, but called Churchill, Manitoba his true childhood home. He had nothing but fond memories of the North, a place full of adventure and incredible people.
Gary moved to Edmonton where he attended NAIT and soon after graduating, joined the RCMP. It was in Edmonton where he met the love of his life, Judy, and their journey together began. Gary’s career took the young couple to Inuvik, NWT, to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and finally back to Alberta, where they settled and raised their children.
Gary was a loving father and husband, a colleague, a caring neighbour, and friend you could always count on. He was an intelligent man, with a great sense of humour. A little smirk always let you know when he thought his jokes were especially amusing. Gary took utmost pride in his family and his career of 37 years with the RCMP. He was a gentle soul, who loved all animals and was most comfortable with the family’s dogs and cats cuddled around him. Gary will be fondly remembered for the holiday dinners he cooked, his love of old cars and airplanes, and nights around the fire with family and friends.
He will be deeply missed, but his friends and family may be at peace knowing he is free and at rest with loved ones who passed before him.
When restrictions ease, a Memorial Service will be held for Gary.
The family will ensure that details of the service reach all those who wish to attend.
