It is with such sorrow that we announce the passing of Matt Kaminski on January 14th, 2021 at the Sturgeon Community Hospital.  It was an unexpected outcome that would end his short life at the age of 46 years.  He is survived by his parents, Mark and Vicki Kaminski of St. Albert; his brother and sister-in-law, Ryan and Delaney Kaminski, and his nieces and nephews Max, Finn, Taya and Ruby, all of Calgary, Alberta.   His absence will be forever felt, and he will be truly missed by all who have been touched by him.

Due to Covid, we were unable to gather sooner, but now with restrictions eased, we are pleased to hold a Celebration of Matt’s Life at “the Pineview Room”, St. Albert Inn & Suites, 156 St. Albert Trail, at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 11th, 2021.

We want to thank all of you who have supported us through this troubling time with your thoughts and heartfelt words.  We hope to see you soon in person.  The family also wishes to extend their thanks to the staff and medical professionals who were involved in Matt’s care at the Sturgeon Hospital, particularly Unit 18, with lockdown in place at the time.  You are so appreciated, and we are so grateful.

As a permanent memorial to Matt, a bench plaque has been placed at the entrance to ‘Grandin Pond’ (just past Gate Avenue on Grandin Road) for those who wish to sit and share a personal memory with him.  This location was near to his home of 20 years and has a special significance to him.
