1937 - 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of a great man on May 15, 2020 at the age of 82.

Born and raised in the community of Villeneuve, Alberta. Marcel Kremer was one of the legendary Alberta oilmen.

Marcel started his career in the oil transportation industry at the age of 18. After years of dedicated work with Gibson’s Petroleum in Edmonton, he achieved the dream of working for himself when he and Andy Meunier formed Kremer & Meunier Transport, a fluids hauling truck fleet in the Red Earth area. Post retirement, he worked side by side with his wife, Lorrie, operating video rental businesses, culminating with owning and operating Qualicum Video Showcase in BC. He found great joy in working with his customers. He spent his retirement years traveling with Lorrie throughout North America in their RV, later wintering in San Carlos, Mexico right up until this year.

He was generous with his time becoming a Lions Club member, first joining the Legal, Alberta chapter in 1972 and later the Fernie, BC Lions.

Marcel was a dedicated family man, a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, survived by Lorrie, his wife of 59 years, sister Marion, brother-in-law Toni, daughter Michele (granddaughter Mellanie, great-granddaughters Suvi and Sanna {newborn May 14}), son Michael (grandchildren Patrick, Brian and Sheena), son Rene and his wife Cathy (grandsons Kyler {Kaeli} and Nathan {Ally}) and son Jeffery (grandchildren Tristen and Samantha). Predeceased by his father Gaston, step-mother Marie-Paul, mother Bertha and grandson Joshua.

Rest easy Dad, we all love you very much.

A private memorial was held at Cherished Memories in Fernie, BC on May 20th. A celebration of life will be announced in July when his ashes will be interred in Villeneuve, AB.

In lieu of flowers please forward your donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Fernie Lions Club.
