It is with great sadness that the family of Lorraine Ellen Mitchell announce her passing on May 22, 2019 at 82 years of age. Lorraine was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 8, 1936 and moved to St. Albert in 1961. She retired as a typesetter from the St. Albert Gazette in 2001, where she worked for over 30 years.

Lorraine suffered from a rare autoimmune disease called Multifocal Motor Neuropathy that affected her body's motor nerves, which controlled her muscles. She received IVIG therapy at the Sturgeon General Hospital for about 9 years, to help give her the much needed antibodies to fight infections. In the end she was too weak to fight off pneumonia.

Lorraine leaves behind the love of her life, husband Larry of 62 years, her children; Lori (Brian), Donna (Ken), Brenda (Ian), daughter-in-law Heidy; as well as 9 grandchildren; Darrell (Lindsay), Jennifer (Mike), Mark (Meghan), David (Sarah), Ashley (Brad), Stacy (Justin), Jenine, Jessica (RJ) and Nolan; 10 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Linda (Louie), and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father Reginald Fuller in 1979, her sister Judy Kuhn in 1986, her mother Irene Fuller in 2011, and her son Michael in 2014.

We would like to thank the wonderful nurses in the IVIG department at the Sturgeon General Hospital who took such great care of Mom, as well as all the staff at Chartwell who cared for her with compassion. She loved life, never complained about her illness, and loved nothing more than to spend time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who had the honour of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 in the Chartwell Residence 4th floor meeting room, 20 Hebert Road, St. Albert. It will be open house style so come anytime from 1-4 pm.
