McConnell

1945 – 2020

With tearful thoughts and joyful memories, we announce the passing of our mother Lynne on July 28, 2020 at the age of 75 years young.

She will be deeply missed by her three children: Vail (Darleen), Laine (Monica), and Megan (Mark), as well as her adoring grandchildren: Shorre (Amanda), Leillyn, Jordan, Dayton, Grace, Lauren and little Amie.  Also mourning her loss is Lynne’s dear sweetheart Karl Miedreich; sister, Valerie Ellis and brothers, Dennis (Peggy) and Gavin (Myrna) McConnell in addition to many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lynne’s dream was always to be an amazing teacher, a pursuit which she passionately pursued for most of her life. Her love of literature and drama led her to enlighten and inspire countless young lives with her devotion and dedication, spending endless hours on extended rehearsals, sewing costumes, perfecting stage sets or working one on one with anyone who asked for a little extra guidance.  Her love of teaching was rivalled only by her love of family.  She will forever be cherished by her family, friends and former students alike.  Lynne was highly active in the United Church and enjoyed many friendships there as well as vigorously helping to initiate and organize several dinners and special events for many worthy charitable causes.

Her remains will be lovingly placed in the Memorial Garden of the St. Albert United Church on Saturday August 8, 2020.  Sadly, due to pandemic restrictions we ask that you respect that this celebration of life will be by invitation only.  Lynne’s last days were spent in the hematology wing at the U of A hospital and her family would like to gratefully thank all of the caring staff of 5F4 who treated Mom with such grace and dignity during her time there.  Lynne’s wish was that everyone try to give a little of themselves every day and to give blood whenever possible. In lieu of flowers please generously give the gift of life by donating blood and/or platelets to your local blood bank.  Donations can also be made to the St Albert United Church in Lynne’s name.
