It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Laurel Ann McDonald, 63 of St. Albert. Laurel passed away December 24th, 2020 with her children and friends Lynda and Karen by her side.

Laurel was born and raised in Lingan, Cape Breton and she moved to St. Albert in 2017 to be closer to her children. Laurel worked in St. Albert as a pharmacy assistant at Walmart and Costco until her diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer in September of 2020. Laurel was a former member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles in St. Albert where she enjoyed Thursday night wings, Friday night suppers and many other weekend events with her friends. Laurel had a heart of gold and made many friends in her short time in St. Albert and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She was a loving and dedicated mother of three children, Lewis (Kelly), Rebecca (Matthew) Stanford and Nicholas. She is survived by her sisters, Patsy (Cyril) MacKinnon, Ruth MacAulay, and her brothers John (Joan) MacAulay, Ivan (Mary Ann) MacAulay and the father of her children, Michael McDonald. She is predeceased by her parents.

A celebration of life will be held in St. Albert, as well as Cape Breton when time permits. Donations in her memory can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at [email protected]
