April 2, 1947 ~ December 23, 2020 (Age 73)

Today we announce, with deep sadness, the passing of our beautiful mother, sister, friend and aunt, Ronni, who passed away on December 23, 2020, in Qualicum Beach, BC.

Also known by many in her family as “Auntie,” and by many of her friends as “Becks,” Ronni was born in the spring of 1947 in Cranbrook, BC.  An Air Force brat, over the years she and her family lived in various parts of Canada and the world, including CFB Borden, ON; CFB Cold Lake, AB; and Morhange, and Grostenquin, France.

Ronni had a wonderful and inspiring wanderlust, and some of her fondest memories were as a member of Wardair’s international Flight Crew.  She often said that one of the reasons she loved travelling, flying and airports is because “everyone has a story.”  Her favourite destination with Wardair was Honolulu, HI.  She kept her Flight Crew credentials her entire life.

In her twenties, Ronni lived in Edmonton, AB.  Later, she and her then husband, Art, raised their son, Danny, in St. Albert, AB.  She later relocated to Vancouver Island, where she spent the later chapters of her career working first in hotel management, and then in law firm administration.

In addition to her love of conversation over pizza and red wine, everyone who knew Ronni remembers her similarly: always happy, always asking about “you,” always smiling, always positive, always up for a road trip, and always – always – unconditionally loving and supportive.

Rod Stewart, Dwight Yoakam and Johnny Reid were staples in her music playlists, and she saw each of them perform live.  Her favourite song of all time was Maggie May, but her favourite sound of all time was people laughing.  And the Last Post moved her to tears, every time.

Ronni is pre-deceased by her father, John; her mother, Phyllis; and her step-father, Percy.  She is survived by her brothers, Ray and Robin; her sister-in-law, Judy; her nieces, Lisa and Makayla; her nephews, Arthur and Brennen; her grandnieces, Jolie and Chloe; her grandnephews, Brody and Jonah; her niece-in-law, Shannon; her nephew-in-law, Zach; several of her aunts, uncles and cousins across Canada; her “soul sister,” Shirley; and her son, Danny.

Everyone who was blessed to know her will always love her and miss her dearly.

“May the sun shine on your shoulders

May luck and love be your friends

For now, always, forever

‘Til we meet again”
