MAY 23, 1950 – JUNE 19, 2022

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother and uncle, Chris Root, on June 19, 2022.

Chris will be fondly remembered by his older brother, John (Judy) and their children: Mark, Christine (Hovan), Sarah (Ashley) and Peter (Allison) and their grandchildren Elijah, Nishan, Kora, Brooklyn, Chelsea, and Dominick; and by his younger brother, Les (Joanne) and their children: Michelle (Brad), Trisha, and their grand daughter Emily; and by his special friend Magdalena Les.

Chris was predeceased by his parents John and Grace.

Chris was an IT expert, loved hockey, was a devoted Edmonton Oilers fan, and would laugh uproariously at a good joke.  He was an avid reader and had an incredible knowledge of world history.

Chris was a strong source of encouragement to his nieces and nephews and was readily available to offer advice if they should ever ask it of him.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Peter Brindley and all the staff of the Neurological Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Department at the University of Alberta Hospital for the exemplary care, kindness, compassion and support that they gave all of us during this difficult time.  We would also like to thank the St. Albert EMS, Fire Department and RCMP for their timely response, kindness, and understanding.

As per Chris’ wishes there will be no Funeral Service.  His family and friends will gather for a celebration of life at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Edmonton Humane Society.

Chris was a much loved brother, uncle, great uncle, friend and wise council to many.  He will be deeply missed and not forgotten.

Expressions of sympathy can be forwarded to the family via the website www.memoriesfuneral.com
