Michael

1952 - 2021

With heavy hearts the family of Michael Philip Routledge announces his passing on August 22, 2021. Michael enjoyed life alongside his wife, Violet Bergen, and daughter, Lindsey Taylor (Mitchell). Michael was the much-loved son of Fitzroy and Angeline Routledge and younger brother of Carroll Ann Johnson (Rodney) and Lynne Morris (Willard), had true friendships with Violet's family, and was adored by all his nieces and nephews. Michael also had a great collection of friends - once befriended, you were in his circle for life. He will be terribly missed by all his friends and family.

Born in Jasper, Michael loved all things outdoors, especially skiing, hiking and camping with Lindsey and Violet. HIs family was very important to Michael and he especially loved sharing his interests with his daughter. Michael was extremely smart, well read and could fix anything. His signature moustache and unique sense of humour won't be forgotten. Michael did a variety of jobs before becoming a journeyman millwright and worked for many years in the oil and gas industry. Always young at heart, at a time when others retired, he became a Safety Consultant.

A celebration of Michael's life will be held on September 11, 2021 at 4:00 pm at The Olive Grove 50451 RR 221 Alberta T0B 3M0. It will be a bbq and campfire; exactly what Michael would enjoy.

Michael survived a ruptured aortic aneurysm but sadly, he succumbed to complications.

We are appreciative of the care he received at Grey Nuns Hospital. If you wish to make a donation in his name please choose the Covenant Foundation  www.covenantfoundation.ca
