LANGMAN, Samuel Raymond "Ray” - It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce Ray's passing on Sunday, October 6, 2019 surrounded by his family, at the age of 89. Ray was born in Orillia, ON and had an amazing life, serving as a navigator with the RCAF, and member of the 418, 426 and 435-436 squadrons. He retired from the military in 1977 after 27 distinguished years of service with the rank of Major/Squadron Leader and a proud Korean War Veteran. He assisted with the development and testing of navigation equipment, mapped the arctic, graduated Carleton University with a Bachelor of Science degree, worked for Alberta Disaster Services for 12 years, and the list goes on. He never missed an opportunity to learn. He loved to attend squadron reunions, meet with his quarter century club and was a proud member of the St. Albert Legion. Saturdays will never be the same without meat draws, Alexander Keith's, reuben sandwiches, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He enjoyed his travels around the world but mostly his trip to England where he met and married the love of his life, Hazel. Finally retiring in 1990, Ray and Hazel loved to travel and enjoyed many years hauling trailer, visiting family and travelling abroad.

Ray will forever be remembered for his strength, knowledge, generosity, sense of humor, caring heart and genuine love of life and family. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Laurie Hanna (Bill); his son, Steven Langman (Carmen); his grandchildren: Christine Foley Burton, Laura Foley Lloyd (Christopher), Amy Foley, Jack Hanna, Alex Hanna, and Amanda Langman; his great grandchildren: Elise Sinclair, Grayson Burton and Avery Lloyd. He also leaves to mourn several nieces, nephews and countless friends.

As per Ray's wishes, no service will be held and cremation has already taken place. Interment will take place at St. Albert Cemetery next spring and the family welcomes all who wish to attend.

Thank you to the Emergency staff and Doctors for their excellent care of Dad at the Sturgeon Community Hospital and to the caring staff at Kipnes Centre for Veterans.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Charity of your choice.
