31 October 1953 – 23 April 2021

With sad hearts the family of Lori Schwanbeck announce her sudden passing on 23 April 2021 at the young age of 67 following a short, fierce battle with cancer.  Lori had a kind heart and touched the lives of many. She especially loved her 6 grand children, gardening, her dogs, and time spent at the farm near Perryvale, Alberta. She will be fondly remembered by her second husband, Dar; daughter Leanne Cameron and son Jeremy (Anjea) Cormier; stepson Charles (Allie) Schwanbeck and stepdaughter Jennifer (Richard) Geenen; her 6 grandchildren Liam, Ryley, Alexia, Tietjen, Justus and Sierra; her sister Cheryl and half-brother Bill; and numerous friends and relatives.  Lori was predeceased by her first husband Leo Cormier and her parents Donald and Florence.

Lori was born in Kamloops, BC, 31 October 1953, the first of two children to Don and Florence Angus. After growing up in Kamloops and marriage to Leo, Lori lived in a variety of (military) locations in Canada including Goose Bay, Labrador; St. Agat, QC; Lac St. Denis, QC; Alsask, SK; Prince George, BC; Cold Lake, AB, Griesbach (Edmonton), AB and then finally settling in Cardiff, Sturgeon County, AB. For over 25 years Lori provided administrative support at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. Lori wore many hats: certified lifeguard (saved a life), swimming instructor, pizza restaurant owner, arcade manager, sideline coach, Number One Fan, Cancer survivor, half-marathoner, hiker (including West Coast and Chilkoot Trails), triathlete; pet chicken owner, farmer, gardener, home finance extraordinaire, dog handler, soup chef, knitter, seamstress, friend, confidante, mother, grandmother (her favourite hat) and beloved wife.

She will be missed more than words can say and leaves a vacancy in the hearts of all who knew her, but we know that she will always be watching over us.

Funeral arrangements and cremation entrusted to Connelly-McKinley Ltd.
