1945 - 2021

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Deanna Suranyi announce her passing on May 4, 2021.

It is a blessing to have lived a life of immeasurable love from that of family and friends. Deanna shared such a life, and although she would have told you how lucky she was, luck had nothing to do with it. It was her tremendous heart and kindness that nurtured the love and life she lived.

Deanna will be deeply missed by the love of her life, and husband of 57 years, Ted. Together they traveled the world, enjoyed the company of friends and raised a family that grew beyond expectations.  Her family was always her greatest source of pride and their home in Carbondale, which she and Ted built themselves, was always where she was  happiest.. Deanna loved to be surrounded by her friends and family, especially if a game of scrabble or cards was involved. Deanna’s pastimes also included camping, fishing, hunting, reading, and scrapbooking. Although her favourite was spending time with family and friends.

Deanna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ted; children: Roger (Joanne), Eddie, Mike (Yvonne), Nancy (Uriele); grandchildren, Marc (Twila), Michel (Jeanelle), Nicole (Kevin), Teddy (Nicole), Jade, Ivy, Katelyn, James, Jesse; great grandchildren: Josh, Hayden, and Ryker. She will also be missed by her sister, Gloria Sichkaryk and niece and nephew, Christy and Steven.

Deanna was predeceased by her parents, Roger and Jeanne Segaert; and her sister, Darlene.

The family would like to sincerely thank all close friends and recent caregivers, especially Angie, her scrabble apprentice, who made a difference in Deanna’s life.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society of Alberta, 306, 10430 - 61 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T6H 2J3 or an act of kindness of your choice.
