VURM, Milan Obit Photo

August 9, 1939 – July 21, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Milan Vurm announces his passing on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the age of 80 years. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Blanka; his two daughters Jane (Tom) and Andrea (Adam); and his grandchildren Courtney, Charlotte, Aksel and Bennet.

Milan was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Canada with his wife in 1969. They settled in Edmonton, where he completed his studies in Engineering. He enjoyed this profession with different companies, one that moved him and his family to Burbank, California. After moving back to Canada and choosing St. Albert as their home, he received his dream job with Syncrude in Fort McMurray, Alberta, where he worked until his retirement.

Throughout his life, the many things he enjoyed were target shooting, tennis, skiing, hiking, wood working, playing the piano, his cars, the outdoors and vacationing in the Rocky Mountains and British Columbia.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the care staff at Kensington Shepherd’s Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, a private family gathering will be held.
