LETTER: $6 million in new capital projects?

"Sir Winston Churchill road is a patchwork bumpy mess from Levasseur Rd. to the St. Albert Trail overpass. Pave it instead of pothole filling that doesn't work."

City council may want to consider more important requirements for the city than new park and Red Willow connections:

• Traffic flow controlled traffic lights, on St. Albert Trail, Taking 15 minutes to go through three sets of lights from Home Depot's turn off to the McDonalds turn off is not acceptable. Yes, there is construction happening there, but that is not what's causing the mess. It is always that type of wait, construction or not.

• Sir Winston Churchill road is a patchwork bumpy mess from Levasseur Rd. to the St. Albert Trail overpass. Pave it instead of pothole filling that doesn't work.

What city engineers see as traffic calming actually is traffic frustrating. Spending the $6 million on trail connections could be better used to make road and traffic light upgrades.

We are still in a pandemic, lots of people are unemployed and struggling, a 1.1-per-cent tax increase should not happen. Council of course will not listen to responsible spending.
