LETTER: Heritage Lakes Christmas displays were a bright spot

"To all families, in all neighbourhoods who went the extra mile this year, thank you. Your effort reminded us that even in the darkness, there is light!"

This is a huge thank you to the families whose homes line the lakeside path in Heritage Lakes. We live just across Sir Winston Churchill from Heritage Lakes, and almost every evening we walk our dog around the lake.

As Christmas approached, we were delighted to see more and more homes adding lights, not just to the front of their houses, but in the back and all along their fences -- some had even gone so far as to light trees outside their yards, and lit our way across little bridges that lead into housing areas.

You have no idea how much you brightened our evenings! Especially this year, where there has certainly been a heightened sense of loneliness and darkness, to have this spectacular display lifted our spirits -- and I'm sure we weren't the only ones!

Thank you for blessing us this year. It did not go unnoticed. We will sorely miss your cheering gift once the season is over. And to all families, in all neighbourhoods who went the extra mile this year, thank you. Your effort reminded us that even in the darkness, there is light!
