LETTER: How you can make a difference

"Recently, a generous St. Albert family has stepped forward and committed to anonymously match dollar for dollar donations we receive up to a maximum of $15,000."

In February 2020, I joined the Community Refugee Committee of St. Albert Serving the Greater Edmonton Area (CRCSA), made up by caring St. Albert residents that are working to bring two Syrian families (four adults and eight children) from Lebanon to Canada. The sponsorship rules make the CRCSA responsible to support these families for the first year they are here. That means food, housing, clothing, etc., at an estimated cost of $71,000.

Recently, a generous St. Albert family has stepped forward and committed to anonymously match dollar for dollar donations we receive up to a maximum of $15,000. So if you join me with a donation of $100, it means $200 to support these families.

We are inviting individuals and businesses to make a difference for these families by donating either by e-transfer to [email protected] or by cheque payable to CRCSA and mailed to 78 Fawcett Crescent, St. Albert, AB, T8N 1W3. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $25 or more.

Roy Thorpe, St. Albert
