LETTER: Thanks to all who made our Food Bank fundraiser a success

"Thanks go out to all the residents on Elliot Place who worked together to decorate their homes, create photo opportunities, collect the food, welcome the many visitors and create a joyful sense of community spirit."

2020 has been an unusually challenging year for many, but as is often the case, adversity brings people together and this year was no exception. Many in the community pulled together to help bring some joy, love and hope to those around us.

We witnessed this through the generosity of many who contributed toward the 4,270 pounds of food and $2,750 cash for the St Albert Food Bank as they circled Elliot Place. It always amazes us that so many people think about carrying a bag or two of food down the street to deposit in the collection boxes. As second-place winners in the Kinsmen’s Most Festive Street competition, we were excited to receive a $750 cheque from the Kinsmen, which was also donated to the Food Bank.

Thanks go out to all the residents on Elliot Place who worked together to decorate their homes, create photo opportunities, collect the food, welcome the many visitors and create a joyful sense of community spirit.

Our appreciation goes out to the St. Albert Gazette for letting our fellow residents know about activities and charity events such as ours, that everyone can take part in.

We also want to acknowledge the staff and many volunteers that keep the St. Albert Food Bank running, especially during this challenging year. It’s no easy task!

We are blessed to be part of this community and look forward to seeing you again in 2021! Wishing you all a happy, healthy, safe New Year!

Jackie and Rein Selles, St. Albert
