Soldiers didn't deserve insults

On Saturday, the last day of the children’s festival, my friend and I were assisted onto and off the bridge that our army had constructed for our convenience.

Imagine our surprise when, in conversation later with these very helpful young soldiers, we were told they appreciated having someone take the time to visit with them. It seems that they had been spoken to rudely, been sworn at and someone even suggested that the money spent on them would be better spent cleaning waterways, etc.

Perhaps people who spoke thusly should remember that it is young people like these fine soldiers in the past who have kept us free so that we are able to express opinions on many subjects.

They might also remember that there is never a reason to be rude or unpleasant to anyone, particularly those who have been so helpful.
