As a Lacombe Park resident, I wish my taxes had only gone up by the 5.24 per cent average as Lynda Flannery stated in her recent letter.
I live in a new condo development and, whereas my current assessment has decreased by 2.3 per cent since last year, my total taxes are up 14.7 per cent (municipal portion was up 14 per cent).
Like several other condo developments in the city, and unlike other private property, our condo association pays for our roadway snow removal, street cleaning/maintenance and street light operation and maintenance, despite no difference in the mill rate for condo versus other private properties.
This arrangement is apparently deemed fair by our city council.
