Provincial ringette weekend for St. Albert Mission at U14AA, U16AA and U19AA championships

U14AA Mission

The results from the Ringette Alberta U14AA provincials this weekend in Sherwood Park will determine the three Alberta teams that will join the St. Albert Mission at westerns.

The St. Albert Ringette Association is hosting the U14AA, U16A, U19A and open (18-plus) A westerns, March 28 to 30 at the Go Auto, Mark Messier, Akinsdale and Kinex arenas.

The Mission are 28-12-3 entering the eight-team U14AA provincials and the pool B games are against Calgary White, Zone 2 Blaze and Sherwood Park Power.

Pool A consists of Spruce Grove, Edmonton Elite, Calgary Blue and Calgary Red.

The 10-team U14AA westerns will also feature two teams representing British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

The U16A, U19A and open A divisions will be comprised of the provincials champions from Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan and Manitoba, plus the host St. Albert team.

The 2018 Mission were silver medallists at provincials and westerns, and this year’s team is comprised of six returnees from last year’s 41-9-3-1 lineup.

This is the seventh season for the U14AA Mission.

U16AA Mission

Six out of nine U16AA teams at the Ringette Alberta championship this weekend advance to nationals but the St. Albert Mission are only committed to going if they place top four in the Calgary tournament.

Nationals are April 7 to 13 in Charlottetown and Summerside, P.E.I.

The Mission skate into provincials with a record of 26-15-2.

Provincials are divided into three pools and the Mission are grouped with the Calgary Crew and Central Alberta Sting.

This is the sixth season for the U16AA Mission in the St. Albert Ringette Association.

U19AA Mission

The St. Albert Mission are among nine teams at the Ringette Alberta U19AA championship competing for four berths at nationals.

In pool play, the Mission are grouped with the Spruce Grove Rage and Sherwood Park Power at provincials this weekend in Calgary.

Nationals are April 7 to 13 in Charlottetown and Summerside, P.E.I.

The Mission are 15-10-6 this season with 10 returnees from last year’s provincial finalists.

The roster includes Vail Ketsa, Lauren Millar, netminder Jordyn Scott and head coach Heather Konkin from the seventh-place U19 provincial team at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer. This is the sixth season for the U19AA Mission in the St. Albert Ringette Association.
