High school final

The Paul Kane Blues lost only two matches this season in metro Edmonton division two women’s soccer and both were against the St. Francis Xavier Rams.

Paul Kane finished 6-2 after the 3-1 loss to the Rams (8-0) in Tuesday’s final at Foote Field.

After the start time was delayed because of lightning, Emma Richardson scored in the 24th minute and the Rams answered with two quick goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half and added a third with 12 minutes remaining.

In league play, the Rams doubled Paul Kane 4-2 in the pool B opener May 7.

The semifinal results were 4-0 for Paul Kane against the pool A Bellerose Bulldogs (4-1-2) and 3-0 for the Rams against the pool B St. Albert Skyhawks (3-3-1).

Division 1A women

A slow start didn’t stop the St. Albert Impact 4 women’s soccer team from winning Monday’s division 1A match in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Down by two goals to Olympia FC (2-5), Shyanne Walton tallied twice and Brittany Kindzierski and Shelby Johnston notched singles in the 4-2 decision at Riel Park.

Walton is tied for second in league scoring with five goals and Kindzierski is the division leader with six.

Today at 2 p.m. the Impact (4-2) plays the Edmonton Warriors 2 (0-5) at Eastglen School.

Monday the 2018 Tier I provincial champions line up against SW Fever (0-5-1) at 6:30 p.m. at ESA Complex.

Division 1A men

The third loss in a row dropped the St. Albert Impact 2 men’s team into the bottom of the division 1A table in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Despite a strong second-half performance by goalkeeper Zach Black, the Impact (1-4-1) fell 4 -1 to the Edmonton Warriors (4-1) Monday at Riel Park.

Sam Smith-Ackerl’s team-leading fourth goal knotted the score after the Warriors connected in the 10th minute.

Upcoming is Monday’s match against Croatia Hajduk (2-2) at 7 p.m. at Croatia Soccer Club.

Men’s masters

The St. Albert Rangers entered Friday’s match undefeated as a first-year master men’s team in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

The score against Sahara SC (0-0-2) was unavailable at press time.

The Rangers (1-0-2) moved down into the 35-plus division 1B league after going 2-8-3 last year in division 1A.

Prior to Friday’s match, Kevin O’Kell was the top scorer in division 1B with five goals and Alan Smith was tied for third with three.

The next match is June 14 against Tabajara YEG (1-1-2) at 6:45 p.m. at ESA Complex.
