St. Albert Impact men's and women's soccer updates

Impact 1 women

Last year’s provincial silver medallists are gaining traction in the Edmonton District Soccer Association premier division with three victories in a row.

The St. Albert Impact 1 team raised its record to 5-3 for fourth place in the 10-team table in Tuesday’s 3-0 decision against Xavier Academy (2-6) at Riel Park.

Casey Paplawski, Danica Blasius and Sadie Vogel led the attack.

Two days earlier, Paplawski and Brittney Kindzierski potted a pair each in the 4-1 win against St. Albert Impact 3 (3-5-1) at ESA Complex.

Paplawski and Kindzierski share the team lead in goals with five and Blasius has four.

Upcoming at Riel Park for Impact 1 is Xavier at 5 p.m. Sunday and Victoria 2 (1-6-2) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Impact 2 women

The St. Albert Impact 2 women are struggling to find the back of the net as one of lowest-scoring premier teams in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

The 10th goal in seven matches was slotted by Abbey Pagee against Victoria 2 (1-6-2) Tuesday at Riel Park. Despite multiple chances, the Impact (2-3-2) settled for the 1-1 draw.

The outcome was identical to Sunday’s result against Sherwood Park Phoenix 1 (5-3-1) as Kiera Brown scored in a match that was cut short at ESA Complex. The Impact also hit two crossbars and three posts.

The Impact plays FC Excelsior 1 (0-8) at 2 p.m. Sunday at Coronation Park and 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at Riel Park.

Impact 3 women

Tuesday’s premier women’s match between St. Albert Impact 3 and Sherwood Park Phoenix 1 kicks off at 6:45 p.m. at Strathcona Athletic Park.

Two wins and six points separate the Impact (3-5-1) and Phoenix (5-3-1) in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

The Impact are coming off Tuesday’s scoreless draw against Angels Scottish SC 2 (4-4-1) as Michelle Brodeur was in net for the clean sheet at Riel Park.

Amanda Pastuzyk was the lone goal scorer in Sunday’s 4-1 loss to St. Albert Impact 1 (5-3) at ESA Complex.

Impact 4 women

The St. Albert Impact 4 women’s team is the winner of four in a row while challenging for the division 1A pennant in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

First pace is up for grabs Monday, as last year’s Tier I provincial champions and the Wind square-off at 6:30 p.m. at Goldstick Park.

Last month the Wind (7-0) edged the Impact 4-3.

The second shutout in three days for the Impact (6-2) was 4-0 against SW Fever (0-6-2) Monday at ESA Complex as Brittany Kindzierski and Shyanne Walton tallied twice in support of goalkeeper Anastacia Lalonde.

Saturday’s 3-0 victory against the Edmonton Warriors (0-7) at Eastglen High School featured goals by Kindzierski, Walton and Candace Alberda with Lalonde between the posts.

Kindzierski and Walton rank near the top of the division scoring race with eight and seven goals, respectively.

Impact 1 men

The St. Albert Impact 1 men’s team celebrated its second goal of the season in the Alberta Major Soccer League.

Matt Hanson scored in the 3-1 loss to Lethbridge FC (4-3-2) last weekend at Bill Gilhespy Soccer Centre.

The first goal for the Impact was registered by Masiah Hassan in the 4-1 setback to the Edmonton Drillers (2-2-4) May 29.

Sunday the Impact hosts Calgary FC U20 (2-1-3) at 12 noon at Larry Olexiuk Field.
