Impact 3 women

Three goals in the first half carried the St. Albert Impact 3 premier women’s team to its first win of the season in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Mia Simon potted a pair and Kennedy Hay also scored as the Impact built up a 3-0 halftime advantage, en route to Tuesday’s 3-2 decision against Xavier Academy (0-2) at Coronation Park.

The Impact (1-2) held the 3-0 lead until the 87th minute when Xavier slotted two goals past Michelle Brodeur to make it close.

The next match is Tuesday versus Victoria 2 (0-2-1) at 6:30 p.m. at ESA Complex.

Impact vs. Impact

Tuesday’s tilt between two of St. Albert’s three premier women’s teams ended with Impact 2 on top 2-1 against Impact 1 at Coronation Park.

Danica Blasius scored for Impact 1, last year's second-place finishers in the Edmonton District Soccer Association and provincial premier silver medallists.

Scoring details for Impact 2 in the team’s season opener were unavailable at press time.

Tuesday match times are 6:30 p.m. for Impact 1 (2-1) against the host Angels Scottish SC 2 (0-3) and 8:15 p.m. for Impact 2 against Northwest United 2 (3-0), the 2018 premier division pennant winners and provincial champions, at ESA Complex.
