Pearson’s Your Independent™ Grocer Looks Forward to Operating in St. Albert

Travis and Sierra Pearson are excited about the July 10th opening of Pearson’s Your Independent™ Grocer.

“St. Albert is growing, and we are looking forward to growing with it,” says Travis, “not just as a grocery retailer, but also as part of the community.”

Travis and Sierra both have extensive experience working in successful grocery stores and are excited about opening their first store together. They focus Pearson’s Your Independent Grocer on a family-oriented atmosphere for both shoppers and staff. A hot and cold deli, sushi and salad bar, and fresh bakery are in place, as are experienced meat cutters that are happy to answer questions and help you find the best cuts for your meals. A sourcing program ensures local products are included on the shelves, and 150 inclusive jobs have been created for the store’s diverse team.

“We have been delayed opening by a few months because of the pandemic,” Travis admits. “That has been challenging but it has also given us more time to focus on the community and ensure the safety of our team and shoppers. We placed many hand sanitizer stations throughout the store and have masks for staff (which are mandatory in all food prep stations). We’ve installed social distancing signs and hired a COVID response team that is solely focused on cleaning and sanitation – cleaning 24 hours a day.”

The Pearsons are impressed with the quality of employees they have hired, even though many on the team are young adults without experience.

“These are good people,” smiles Travis. “They are hardworking, which is shown by their volunteer experience. St. Albert has fantastic young adults that are focused on wanting to support the community.”

Community support is an important value to the Pearsons. Sierra launched a food bank program last July and was able to roll it out in Loblaws across the country. With coast-to-coast involvement, $800,000 worth of food was raised.

“To see the buy-in and excitement across the nation was impressive. We look forward to continuing community work in our new store in St. Albert.”

Local programs underway include more food bank drives/donations, school breakfasts, support for President’s Choice Children’s Charity, nutrition education, and more.

“All the fundraising for PC Children’s Charity in St. Albert will support schools in St. Albert,” Travis adds.

The owners and staff look forward to seeing you at Pearson’s Your Independent™ Grocer at #100-925 St Albert Trail, and they enjoy interacting with their customers that post on Facebook and Instagram (@pearsonsyig).

Travis concludes, “The store is family-friendly, comfortable, and clean. We’ve gone all out to make sure every trip to Pearson’s Your Independent™ Grocer is an amazing experience. We look forward to meeting you in person.”
