After reading Apollo Developments’ proposal for 70 Arlington Drive I am terrified for the future of St. Albert.
Why is this proposal requesting Direct Control re-zoning? The only reason I can see is to jam more units on the property than would otherwise be allowed. Are other neighbourhoods going to get the same shoddy treatment as Akinsdale in future “affordable housing” projects?
Is council going to throw the land use bylaw out the window for the next affordable housing project? What other green spaces are going to be paved over in the name of “affordable housing?” Direct Control appears to be an outrageous abuse of power and I hope no citizen of St. Albert stands by and allows it to happen.
