City council – practise what you preach

City council, reading letters to the editor these past few months, St. Albert seems to be upset with your behaviour. They have good cause. You preach to us on being waste wise with our garbage.

City council, reading letters to the editor these past few months, St. Albert seems to be upset with your behaviour.

They have good cause.

You preach to us on being waste wise with our garbage. Why can’t you practise what you preach and be waste wise with our money?

A grandiose garbage recycling scheme, topping up your salary after losing tax-free status and going against our referendum wishes to fund a storefront library, all at our expense. These are examples of your “do as I say, not as I do” waste-wise approach to treating us taxpayers.

We now go back to the status quo with garbage we can no longer put in the blue bag. This banished garbage must now go into the brown bin, where it went before you hoisted your visions of recycling grandeur upon us.

Given these changes, I wait with bated breath for you to reduce our curbside recycling tax.

But given your behaviour, I will not hold my breath.

Warren Kindzierski, St. Albert
