North Ridge needs better access

An average home in North Ridge where I currently live is taxed approximately $4,000 a year. We have a lovely new fire hall to the southwest of us, which should make us all feel safe and that our tax dollars are working for us.

An average home in North Ridge where I currently live is taxed approximately $4,000 a year. We have a lovely new fire hall to the southwest of us, which should make us all feel safe and that our tax dollars are working for us.

We also live north of Giroux Road, which travels east of the new fire hall. Giroux Road intersects with North Ridge Drive, which is the only entrance/exit from North Ridge west onto Giroux. Road. There are no traffic signals currently at the intersection of North Ridge Drive and Giroux Road and transport trucks are permitted to use our city’s arteries to access Highway 2 north. If the city made the truck traffic turn west 600 metres to the secondary road heading to Villeneuve road rather than east on Giroux Road they could bypass the city and numerous schools.

Not to mention if one of these fuel haulers tangled up with someone who was tired of waiting for a break in traffic and the accident blocked North Ridge Drive at its throat, there would be no other entrance for EMS to enter North Ridge west. Now I don’t feel so safe, thanks.
