Omar Khadr is a traitor

Your editorial “Khadr case a national disgrace” reinforces how gullible Canadians must be.

Your editorial “Khadr case a national disgrace” reinforces how gullible Canadians must be. Here we have a situation where the entire family is not only committed to destroying the Canadian way of life but they are proud of others, including their own children, that attack us, and they encourage them to do so.

Under no circumstances should the federal government seek his repatriation, but if Omar Khadr should ever return, he should be tried as a traitor. While he may have only been 15 years old at the time, he was fighting against the NATO forces in Afghanistan. The soldiers killed could very well have been Canadians. Khadr gave up his rights as a Canadian citizen when he joined enemy forces.

As for the torturing of enemy soldiers, we are fighting guerrilla warfare, no holds barred by the enemy, but we refuse to do the same. Not until the rest of the world decides that we must fight the war on their rules will we ever make progress.

Canada will keep troops in Afghanistan until the middle of next year and after spending billions of dollars and hundreds of lives lost, nothing will change. The Taliban will regain control of the country and traitors like Khadr will be able to return to there to a more peaceful life.
