People should use common sense when crossing streets

I understand there is a pilot project in Erin Ridge which involved changing the speed limit in that community to 40 km/h.  Several items were installed including flashing crosswalk lights and extended sidewalks at certain crosswalks.

I was driving in Erin Ridge recently when I noticed a family, including two adults, a baby in a stroller and two children, who came to walk across the street without even a pause or looking for any oncoming traffic! I was shocked/horrified that no consideration for their safety was taken by the adults.

In general, I found it discouraging that the citizens of St. Albert are being taxed for and have the extra stress imposed to learn of the changes to speed limits, etc. when some people act like they are entitled to cross the street without any responsibility for themselves or their children.

I have heard of other incidents from people who have had similar experiences while driving in St. Albert.

I do not think it is reasonable to overly change our rules and regulations when common sense can be taught.
