Perron Street needs to be cleaner

I am quite happy to be a downtown resident, to be able to walk to the library, city hall or post office, etc.

I am quite happy to be a downtown resident, to be able to walk to the library, city hall or post office, etc.

There are a lot of trails for me to access; this is a delight in the summer … however I do not ask friends to go for walks in the winter. Why? In the summer I do apologize for all the debris, garbage and weeds on Perron.

In the winter it becomes a different street. St. Thomas Street and Ste. Anne, together with the Red Willow Trail, are cleared of snow.

Residents at Mission Court are denied access to Perron because the bridge is not always cleared.

Above all are the hazards encountered when walking. I fell before Christmas on the uncleared snow and ice. I now at this moment am having to use a walking stick.

Some retail merchants do not clear up their sidewalks of snow and ice, and together with the debris and clutter from the slow construction site, it is very difficult to walk. Complaints have been made to city hall.

Do you wonder why people do not shop on Perron! The Candy Shoppe has customers; their sidewalks are always clean.

All those deep planners at city hall should make sure the city cleans up its act before we get lots of visitors for any reason.

Hoping to see a clean Perron Street one of these days.
