Rail fence is a waste of money

Brian McLeod hit the nail on the head in “Railway fencing a waste of taxpayers’ money” (St. Albert Gazette, Commentary, April 6). A total waste of money. No injuries, no incidents, so why? If there ever was a derailment that fence wouldn’t hold back a charging buffalo.

Teaching your kids that they don’t walk on the tracks and stop and look both ways before crossing the road was a no-brainer when I was growing up and I passed that common sense on to my kids. Why does the mayor and council think that it is the taxpayers’ responsibility to protect people from lack of logical thinking? It isn’t our responsibility and we shouldn’t have to pay for it. People, teach your kids!

Council has no clue when “It didn’t cost a lot of money.” Oh yes, it did. Their incomes may be in the six figures, but that is not the reality for the majority of the city.

A useless frivolous waste of money again by the city. Tsk.
