Red Barn plan deeply concerning

This letter is in response to the article about the proposed “Red Barn Development” in the June 19th issue of the Gazette.

There is a component to this development that has been sadly overlooked: The impact on home owners in close proximity to this proposal, which includes mixed land use of commercial plus medium and high density residential units. If I understand correctly, there could be two residential sites containing apartments or condos well over 10 stories in height.

I am deeply concerned of the impact on not only my property but all the properties that this will affect. I cannot conceive of nor imagine a building or buildings of this scope in such a limited space. It will diminish property value of adjacent properties, adversely affect the environment, esthetics, privacy, shading and add to already excessive levels of traffic and noise in a very populated area.

I urge the residents of Erinridge and Oakmont to pay attention and stand together against this development as proposed.  It may forever change the face of our community.

Mavis Booker, St. Albert
