St. Albert residents known for generosity

It’s time for a change with moving away from this ‘affordable housing’ stigma of low income and crime.

It’s time for a change with moving away from this ‘affordable housing’ stigma of low income and crime.

Affordable housing is a positive thing with hard working families buying $200,000 to $250,000 homes (five to 10 years ago, one was considered wealthy for many living in a $200,000 to $250,000 home). I know at one time I would have never considered spending more than $200,000 on a home.

Let’s start refraining from the words affordable and low income, and start coining a new positive term ‘acceptable housing.’

As a St. Albert resident myself we have had more than 50 homes in St. Albert that were listed on MLS between $200,000 and $250,000. Are these ‘affordable homes’ or tagged with the stigma of low-income families? I don’t believe that to be the case.

Let’s show some humanity and use common sense when dealing with these social issues as a responsible city, province and country.
