Transit, traffic snarls a bigger environmental concern

I wholeheartedly agree with Mike Killick’s letter about the focus of council ( St. Albert Gazette , Your Views, Jan. 30). Plastic bags is their biggest issue? This is but another example why some people should not run for office.

When I read the mayor’s biggest achievement and what gave her the most pleasure since being elected was the colouring of the sidewalks for the LGBTQ community, I began to wonder why she wanted to be mayor.

I would suggest there are too many who enter politics for wrong reasons and accomplish little – and this another example. The manner in which she played with the library plebiscite is but another.

It seems there are only a few councillors doing their jobs for the greater good of St. Albert.

When I see empty city buses driving through communities day in and day out, perhaps they might look at real reductions for the environment. Where they put all those special curbs on Heritage Drive in front of the French school and without planning proper plowing procedures, we now have one lane stop-and-go traffic.

I guess we pay those high taxes for whims of the day and what makes the mayor and some of our councillors look good in the eyes of special interest groups with hopes of being re-elected.
