Young activists can change the world

Thank you Jennifer Hamilton for your Special to the Gazette May 1, 2019.

Thank you, Jennifer Hamilton, for your Special to the Gazette May 1, 2019. I am familiar with Ken Allred’s printed musings over the years, and although we are close in age, that is probably the only similarity we share, especially in how we think of the world and the beings in it.

I applaud all young people for moving forward on a trajectory of change. Activists like Greta Thunberg and Eva Newton will change the world, if the older generation and their stubborn, antiquated views get out of the way or get on the band wagon.

There was a climate change march May 3 in Edmonton and I hope that many forward-thinking older people got out and supported this gathering. Governments and the people who vote them in have had decades to begin the policies needed to change our infrastructure to renewables, slash emissions and create a new social fabric and job economy.

Hats off to Hamilton for replying in eloquent prose to Allred's claims that students’ protests are not the best use of their time. In fact, it is the very best use of their time.
