Cochrane RCMP charge male for stolen property and weapon offences

“Property crime has been on the rise in many communities and in our own," Cochrane RCMP’s Detachment Commander Inspector Dave Brunner said in the press release. "We thank the citizens of Cochrane for reporting the suspicious activity to police, resulting in an arrest and recovery of stolen property”.

COCHRANE - An allegedly impaired motorist awoke to his own arrest in Cochrane on Aug. 24.

The Cochrane RCMP reported the arrest occurred on Aug. 24, when officers responded to a report of an unknown male passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in West Terrace.

"Upon arriving on scene, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view in the immediate area of the male driver," the detachment stated in a press release.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle and license plate were stolen, according to RCMP, and the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Upon search of the stolen vehicle, RCMP stated officers discovered a large amount of stolen tools, identity documents, weapons and other illicit drugs. The suspect’s clothing also matched earlier reports of a male who stole another vehicle, also in Cochrane.
