Innisfail RCMP searching for horse killer

RED DEER COUNTY – Innisfail RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance to help identify a suspect who killed a young horse by shooting the animal in the gut.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said in a media release issued Monday that on Nov. 29 Innisfail RCMP received a report of a horse being shot and killed overnight. 

Savinkoff said the incident occurred near Township Road 353 and Range Road 255 in Red Deer County in between Innisfail and Pine Lake. 

He said the police investigation revealed the horse was killed with a single gun shot wound to the gut.

 Savinkoff said the horse is described as a two-year-old Grulla colt valued at $5,000.

“While the investigation continues RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect,” said Savinkoff.
