Taste of Edmonton

We spend so much time indoors during winter months that when an outdoor food festival hits town, we ferociously chow down, sharing plates with friends and strangers.

But Taste of Edmonton also uses the food fest as an opportunity to showcase different performers across the region.

Wednesday, July 25, is country night and St. Albert’s Dan Davidson headlines at 9 p.m. Opening for the Canadian Country Music Association nominee is Olivia Rose at 6:30 p.m. followed by 2018 Edmonton Music Award recipient The Dungarees at 7:30 p.m.

The free outdoor concert takes place at Capital Plaza, 99 Avenue and 108 Street near the Legislature.

Hailey Benedict at K-Days

Brimming with beauty plus a poet’s turn of the phrase, St. Albert’s Hailey Benedict, 16, will be opening for Doc Walker on Thursday, July 26, at K-Day’s North Stage.

Although still attending Paul Kane High, the singer-songwriter performs at the region’s major events and festivals, and is an Alberta Country Music Award recipient as well as a Global Woman of Vision.

With more than 20 Top 10 singles in total, Manitoba's Doc Walker is one of the most recognized Canadian country acts of the past two decades. Doc Walker has been nominated for several Juno Awards for Country Album of the Year, including a win in 2009 for the album Beautiful Life.

Hailey Benedict performs at 8:30 p.m., followed by Doc Walker at 9:30 p.m.
