Country duos are rare in part because it’s tough to find the right voice and personality to complement an already existing solo act.

Yet St. Albert’s homegrown Leah Durelle and Aaron J. Goodvin have discovered a seamless fit that is loaded with entertainment value. And this Friday, they’ll be performing at LB’s Pub from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

While Durelle is the looker with the big voice, Goodvin laces the evening with his particular brand of engaging humour says Janis Richards, Durelle’s manager.

Durelle and Goodvin belt out classic songs originally perfected by acclaimed duos such as George Jones and Tammy Wynette on Golden Rings and or the more contemporary Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock’s The Picture.

And with a huge set list to accommodate any audience, their range extends from Freddie Fender’s classic Wasted Days and Wasted Nights to a Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys spoof. “Their voices blend and harmonize beautifully,” says Richards.

LB’s is at 23 Akins Dr. No cover charge.

Comedian Tom Green may be flying under the radar since his marriage to Drew Barrymore went kaput. But that doesn’t mean he’s quit the comedy circuit.

On the contrary, Green will appear at the Comic Strip from Thursday to Saturday spouting off some of his loony, free-wheeling stand-up jokes.

The Canadian-born host of Tom Green Live!, an aficionado of skateboarding and whose second favourite hockey team is the Edmonton Oilers, often peppers his jokes with real-life fodder.

The Thursday night show starts at 8 p.m. while Friday and Saturday night shows run at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The Comic Strip is at Bourbon Street in West Edmonton Mall. Tickets are $44.95. Reserve at 780-483-5999.
