Throughout its 30-year career, The Mavericks have set many a woman’s heart fluttering. As part of an extensive 30th-anniversary world tour, the band will perform at the Winspear Centre on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
A fusion of country, Tex-Mex, rockabilly and Latino sounds, highlighted with an energetic and entertaining live show, the four-piece has won a strong cross-section of awards including a 1995 Grammy.
Boasting nearly 20 album releases, The Mavericks became one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful groups of the early ‘90s.
Led by singer-songwriter Raul Malo, the band was formed in Miami, Fla. Taking the name The Mavericks, the young hotshot foursome played rock clubs in the Miami area and soon developed a large fan base.
They were signed by major record labels, toured the world, went on hiatus and regrouped. The Maverick’s last album release in 2018 was Hey! Merry Christmas, a fun, unifying 10-track partially motivated by a tense political climate.
Tickets for the Winspear concert are $40.95 and are available at 780-428-1414 or at winspearcentre.com.
