LETTER: Fountain Park pool not built for today's uses

Re: "Low or no free swim time a disservice to taxpaying seniors," Letters, The Gazette, Sept. 15.

Niki Wosnack's letter was right on. Fountain Park Swimming Pool is an old facility and not built for today's programs and uses.

I'm not sure if Niki knows about Grosvenor Pool, which had some lane swimming as well as the Fountain Park Competition Pool, but because of COVID-19 it had to be booked a week in advance, necessitating patrons stay up to midnight to book. Booking at Fountain Park Pool continues.

Years ago, during aquasize classes, a lane was created in the deep end of the leisure pool next to the climbing wall. This was done to accommodate patrons with arthritis who can not swim in the cold competition pool water.

It might be an idea to re-institute it for the five hours a day of Aqua Fit.
