Goodvin, Benedict, up for Country Music Alberta Awards

St. Albert connected recording artists blaze their way to the top

Four artists with a St. Albert connection are up for the 13th annual Country Music Alberta Awards.

This celebratory event takes place March 9 and 10 at the Edmonton Convention Centre. It is filled with round table discussion, industry awards, a songwriters’ showcase, and a gala dinner followed by a talent awards show.

This year St. Albert connected nominees are diverse, exciting and lighting up concert halls. Leading the pack is local country singer Hailey Benedict, a rising star with four nominations: Horizon Female Artist of the Year; Horizon Single of the Year for Damm You July; Fan Choice, and Interactive Artist of the Year.

Aaron Goodvin, who grew up in St. Albert, before heading to Nashville is up for three awards: Male Artist of the Year; Songwriter of the Year, and Single of the Year for Country Dance

Dan Davidson, a hometown boy currently considered an Alberta country staple, was given the nod for Male Artist of the Year. He is also nominated for a second award as Visual Creative of the Year alongside video producer Travis Nesbitt.

The Dungarees have the nod for Roots Artists of the Year, and Brett Kissel, who bunked in St. Albert for a year before making Nashville home is looking at two nominations - Male Artist of the Year and Single of the Year for Never Have I Ever

Benedict is also part of the talent lineup performing at the awards ceremony along with The Prairie States, Nice Horse, Drew Gregory, Julia Vos and Kyle McKearney to name a few.
